Football boots have changed dramatically over the years. With so many different styles and variations they can be a great way for a player to express their personality on the pitch.
Players often grow loyal to one particular style that they wouldn’t dare stray from. So many were devastated when the adidas Predator took a sabbatical back in 2015 to make way for the Nemeziz, the X and the Ace.
First introduced in 1995, it was made famous by the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Alessandro Del Piero and, most notably, David Beckham around the turn of the millennium.
Our staff on the shop floor constantly get asked when we are getting Predators back, so we’re glad to announce that that day has arrived!
It has returned to replace the Ace as adidas have launched the Predator ‘Skystalker' pack of boots. It has been welcomed by those who enjoy traditional football boots reminiscent of those from years gone by. The simplicity of the boot is a refreshing change for those who have grown tired of brightly coloured boots that can be seen from the space station.
The new range of Predator ‘Skywalker’ boots features; a Structured Primemesh upper providing a comfortable, sock-like fit so you can move with instinct to control the ball at high speed. Moulded heel which offers a snug fit for instinctive movement. Control embossing on the upper gives improved ball handling. Snug sock-like material fits like a second skin. High-performance TPU-injected layers in the outsole are designed to stabilise movement.
"When designing the Predator 18 we wanted to create the most innovative boot on the market while staying true to the very ethos of what made the Predator such an iconic boot," Adidas vice-president of design Sam Handy said.
The new range of Predator ‘Skywalkers’ will be worn by Paul Pogba, Mesut Ozil, Ivan Rakitic and Dele Alli. Undoubtedly this will prove popular with many young soccer fans, making it a must have gift this Christmas.
